Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate a current status of radiologists¡¯part-time services in mammography and to collect baseline information for improving quality of breast cancer screening.

Materials and Methods: We enrolled 101 respondents attending education programs of mammography reading which were done in 2011 and 2012. A blinded questionnaire concluded time of qualification, type of institute attending as full- and part-time radiologist, amount of mammography read, yes or no about reading and participation of quality control program, and payment of part-time services.

Results: The time of qualification was more than 10 years in most cases (90.1%). The most common types of institute attending as full- and part-time radiologist were private clinic (39.6%) and hospital (74.2%), respectively. The amounts of mammography read were less than 5,000 per year as full-time job (41.4%) and less than 1,000 per year as part-time job (44.0%). They read mammography as well as participated the quality control program in 42.6% of cases, whereas did nothing in 24.8%. They were paid in 67.3% of cases, but the payment was not correlated with contents of services (p < 0.05).

Conclusion: To improve the quality of breast cancer screening, the part-time radiologists should read mammography as well as participate the quality control program and be paid appropriately.
